Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is being sure of things hoped for and certain of what we do not see.
Faith is easy to have when things in our lives are going well but what about when they aren’t? It’s a totally different story then and then is when we’re supposed to have it the most. I know that’s easier said than done but it is possible and believe it or not it’s even possible like the Bible says to be glad for struggles.
No, I”m not out of my mind. It’s the truth just like the Bible says and we all know that the Bible is absolute truth. I know like lots of other folks what it’s like to struggle and not with just every day things like bills and such.
I know what it’s like to lose your children, your spouse, your home and everything you own just about all at once. I know what it’s like to be in poor health, have no job, no money, and have to live at the mercy of anyone who wants to take pity on you and help you. I know only too well and does it do much for your faith, not at first.
At first, you’re still in shock that it’s even happening in the first place. Then comes denial and then anger. After that is massive depression because you can’t for the life of you figure out what you’re going to do now and to make it worse nobody gets it.
So you cry a lot and ask why a lot and search for answers and direction hoping somewhere to find it or at least part of it and we don’t always find it right away. Sometimes it takes a lot of searching and coming to the realization that there’s only one place to find the answers and the direction and that’s from God.
Once we get to that point then the rest isn’t so hard. Once we let God take over and do what He needs to do then our lives start to look a bit brighter and before you know it we’re thanking God for it because without it we wouldn’t turn to God and have faith that He will get us through.
We start to see that things aren’t as bad as they seemed and God really does provide what we need for every day. Sometimes it might not be the way we would like but He does provide and by doing that He also shows us that we don’t need all the things we think we do in our lives.
Being the humans we are, we think we need all this “stuff” in our lives or we just can’t function but when we go through certain struggles, we discover all the “stuff” we thought was important really wasn’t. Like the Bible says, our struggles are to make us stronger and build character. They are to bring us closer to God and help us to depend on Him and not “stuff” as it should be. “Stuff” can’t get us to our final destination but God can.
I know it’s hard to do and at times I still struggle with it but no matter how dark things get or how bad they look don’t give up. Have faith and trust God to take you through. May God bless you and keep you all safe.
